HOODBR

HOOD, Bryan Daniel "Hoodie" Bryan Daniel Hood, "Hoodie", 23, of Marlborough, died Saturday, (October 28, 2006) at St. Francis Hospital due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Hartford. He was the beloved son of Harvey and Kathryn (Purzycki) Hood of Marlborough. He was born in Hartford, June 26, 1983. He grew up in Marlborough, and graduated from RHAM High School, Class of 2001. He received an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Manchester Community College, and was currently a full-time student at Central Connecticut State University pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology. While in high school, Bryan worked part-time at many local businesses, and also joined the Marlborough Volunteer Fire Department as a junior member. At age 16, he became a certified Emergency Medical Technician serving with the Marlborough Ambulance. His passion for emergency medical care led him to achieve the EMT-I (Intermediate) level of certification, which allowed him to provide even more advanced emergency medical care. At age 18, Bryan was hired by Aetna Ambulance Service and worked providing emergency care for the City of Hartford until the time of his death. Bryan's passion for life was evident in everything he did. His character was driven by sincerity, compassion, generosity, and energy for living life to its fullest. His adventurous spirit brought an array of hobbies and interests, which he eagerly shared with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, and had countless stories to tell from vacations in the Dominican Republic, Martha's Vineyard, and the Florida Keys. Most recently, he had traveled to Ireland and was proud to experience the country of his heritage. He loved hunting, camping, snowboarding, mixed martial arts, and grilling his acclaimed pork chops for all. Growing up on Lake Terramuggus gave Bryan the opportunity to develop skills and a love for fishing, swimming, sailing, and windsurfing. Bryan's comic sense of humor and antics kept those around him entertained and always on their toes. His sharp wit was only outdone by his tremendous loyalty and concern for his family and friends. Bryan's trust in God was quiet and confident. In addition to his loving parents, Bryan also leaves his sister Allison and brother Daniel, both at home; his maternal grandmother, Alice Purzycki, of Marlborough; his paternal grandmother, Annabelle Hood, of Wethersfield; and many relatives. Bryan will be deeply missed by his buddies in the EMS community in Hartford and beyond. His absence will be profoundly felt in the lives of his best friends, John Hesla, Mike Larose, and Matt Silva, along with many dear friends and countless others whose lives he touched. He especially cherished the time he had with his dear Amanda, who died with him. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 4 at The Middletown Bible Church, 349 East St. (Rt. 217) Middletown, CT at 3 p.m., with a Lifestar flyover scheduled for 2:45 p.m. A memorial scholarship fund has been established in Bryan's memory. Donations may be sent to the Bryan D. Hood Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Liberty Bank, PO Box 188, Marlborough, CT 06447. In life Bryan encouraged others to become organ donors, and in death he continues to change lives.
