This annual scholarship was established in memory of Bryan Hood, a 23-year old man from Marlborough, Connecticut, who was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in October, 2006. In life, Bryan's strong character and contagious energy for living every day to its fullest left a lasting impact on all who knew him. In addition to his role as a skilled member of the Hartford Emergency Medicine community, Bryan was also a full-time college student with an innate understanding of medical science and criminal law. He had earned an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Manchester Community College, and was a full-time student at Central Connecticut State University at the time of his death, pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology. Bryan's passion for the education, and his appreciation for the public university system is honored annually, as we award a $1000 scholarship to an applicant who embodies the spirit of community, strength of character, and energy for life that Bryan's memory so vividly represents.

Requirements:
To apply, a student must be registered for Fall 2011 classes at any Connecticut State University (CCSU, ECSU, SCSU, WCSU).  Graduate students are also welcome to apply, as are students who have graduated from a Connecticut State University and who are now pursuing a graduate degree.

Congratulations to our 2008 Bryan D. Hood Memorial Scholarship winner, Andrew Shetland of Griswold, 2009 winner, Nikole Doolittle, of Middletown, and 2010 winner, Lauren Maston, of Manchester.
